Bandaloop Records 2001 Year in Review

Coinmonster song "Body of Binky" appeared in episodes of the HBO series Six Feet Under and UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Go Robot Go! had two songs on the short-lived MTV series The Undergrads.

We put out new records by Manifold Splendour (6 weeks on CMJ Top 200, peaking at #130) and Go Robot, Go! (also 6 weeks on CMJ Top 200 peaking at #105).

We also released Coinmonster's "Work Sweat and Pain Among Friends" for the first time on CD and brought back the long lost Coinmonster original cassette "2 more weeks" for a limited run.

We also signed Philadelphia based Brother Eye, who will be releasing a CD in early 2002.

Coinmonster traveled to Los Angeles in April for a major label showcase while Silo the Huskie performed at SXSW and Comfest.

Go Robot, Go! was selected to perform showcases for CMJ (New York City), Philadelphia Music Conference, 2NMC Music Conference (Nashville), as well as showcasing for Maverick Records. GRG also headlined the Robot Ball and opened for David Byrne in Columbus and Indianapolis.

RSTA contributed the hit track "Mudpit" to the WXDX compilation and performed at the South Side Street Spectacular, as well as the Resurgence Festival at Starlake Ampitheatre with Sevendust, Saliva, Flickerstick and others.

Who's who at Bandaloop? I asked the staff at Bandaloop to write a few words about themselves so you could get to know them. Here's what they had to say in their own words:

Bryan Huber - Art Director/Graphic Designer. I get to handle one of the more challenging and exciting jobs at Bandaloop - graphic communications! With the needs of the label and wide variety of styles the bands on the roster, it keeps me on my toes creating a direction that the label, bands and fans are in tune with. From CD's and t-shirts to trade ads and one sheets, I create a cohesive look to carry throughout all forms of communication. When someone's in a record store or browsing through a magazine I want them to get a sense of what that band is all about. For a graphic designer these are the projects that are a labor of love. On top of that, I get to work with really cool people and have a great time doing it!

Rachel Manis - Publicity Director. A New York native, Rachel Manis helps book many artists through the NYC area. She also co-runs Brooklyn based indie label Dunket Records. She plays keyboards with instrumental rock band Brainstorm Sheen, as well as bass and drums in other groups. In a few months, she will be launching her own zine, Goindiemusic.com

Beth Kowalczyk - web mistress/dominatrix and technical support. Former XFL cheerleader and defender of the downtrodden, working to end hunger and poverty. Turn ons include record label executives and puppies; turn offs include fast food and Ford Mustangs.

Bandaloop Records is pleased to announce that we have added Philadelphia's Brother Eye to the roster. They are currently in the studio recording with producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Jane's Addiction). We're hoping to have the new CD available in late Spring.

The new Manifold Splendour CD, "My Night Time Career" is currently available and already doing well. The CD will be going to national radio on January 30. Team Clermont will once again be heading the promotional campaign. Big things are expected.

Ritual Space Travel Agency just returned from NYC where they quickly took over the Big Apple but then decided to give it back to the locals. RSTA is putting the finishing touches on their new disc, which everyone is anxiously awaiting.
